Rosewood Village residents are seen here visiting with children from King’s Kids Nursery School choir on Dec. 18.

For 27 years, Rosewood Village has had a partnership every December with a local nursery school that sees children in the daycare program stop by the Sarnia seniors living community to sing Christmas songs for residents.

Rosewood Village fun co-ordinator Bev James says one of the great things about the collaboration with King’s Kids Nursery School is the fact that some of the parents who brought their children to Rosewood on Dec. 18 were among the members of the original children’s choirs to entertain residents more than two decades ago.

“It really is a tradition,” Bev tells S&R Today, adding that many of the residents came down to watch the choir and meet with the children and their parents.

“We had a really good turnout and the residents really loved it,” she says.

The children, who were between the ages of 3 and 5, also brought cookies and chocolates for the residents to enjoy. After their performance, the children spent time chatting with residents.

One resident had a birthday the day before, so one of the children sang Happy Birthday for him, Bev notes.

“And (the resident) was really emotional about that,” she says.
