Lanark Village residents, pictured above, can now take a shuttle bus to THEMUSEUM Thursdays to enjoy exhibits at a 50% discount.

Lanark Village launched a partnership in October with THEMUSEUM in Kitchener to offer a seniors’ discount day every Thursday.

Through the partnership, which is sponsored by Lanark Village, seniors 65 and older can now visit THEMUSEUM for $5 per ticket every Thursday. A seniors’ ticket normally costs $10.95.

Stephanie Paddock, the Kitchener seniors living community’s marketing director, says Lanark Village is hoping the collaboration will also encourage its residents to visit THEMUSEUM and explore its many exhibits.

She adds the THEMUSEUM is trying to make its exhibits more accessible to seniors in Waterloo Region who may not otherwise be able to visit due to financial limitations.

Partnering with THEMUSEUM to give local seniors increased access to the exhibits also falls in line with the Steeves & Rozema Group’s mission of “creating communities that are good for life,” Stephanie notes.

The initiative also aims to attract more adults and seniors to THEMUSEUM, which is formerly the Waterloo Regional Children’s Museum, Stephanie says.

Residents wishing to partake in the seniors’ discount on Thursdays will have access to the Lanark Village shuttle bus that will take them to THEMUSEUM and then return them home.

So far, the collaboration has worked well.

“It’s been a big hit,” Rachel Wagner, a representative from THEMUSEUM, told Stephanie in a recent e-mail.
