Lanark Place raised more than $9,000 for local charities in 2016, a feat that helped the Kitchener retirement community’s staff members earn the Community Service Award at Steeves & Rozema’s 16th annual awards celebration.

As a collective team, Lanark Place has focused on helping its local community in the past few years, says Bradley Lukas, the home’s executive director.

In 2016, the Lanark Place team participated in fundraisers for several charities, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Waterloo Region and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

“Overall, I am pleased to report that Lanark Place staff was responsible for raising just over $9,000,” Bradley says. “The staff of Lanark Place have truly inspired our approach to continued community support and involvement.”

Bradley adds that he is proud of the efforts the Lanark Place team put forth in 2016 to reflect Steeves & Rozema’s mission of “creating communities that are good for life,” both for residents of the S&R home and others in the community.

“I can assure you that our efforts would not be possible without the many dedicated members of our team that portray a continued caring and loving environment, both inside and outside of Lanark (Place),” he says.

The Community Service Award recognizes staff members at Steeves & Rozema’s long-term care and retirement homes – collectively or as individuals – who have demonstrated commitment to their communities.

Steeves & Rozema’s 2017 awards celebration was held April 27 in Sarnia. Awards were given out in four categories: Above and Beyond, Community Service, Quality Improvement and Volunteer Recognition.
