Village on the St. Clair residents are pictured here enjoying a day of pampering during a spa day at Lambton College.

The Village on the St. Clair team collaborated with Lambton College's esthetics and hairstylist (ESTH) department to provide a spa day for residents of the Sarnia seniors living community.

For the second straight year, several Village on the St. Clair residents and team members were invited to the college by Lori Kamepf, the ESTH department co-ordinator and a professor in the program. She is also the daughter of one of the Village's residents.

As part of the spa day, the women enjoyed complimentary manicures, while the men were treated to pedicures and relaxing massages.

“This is our second year participating in this wonderful event, and it continues to bring so much joy to our residents,” Evelyn Babcock, the Village's fun co-ordinator, tells S&R Today.

“Not only do they enjoy an afternoon out together, but they also have the opportunity to connect with the students at Lambton College.”

The ESTH program trains students in several aspects of spa services, including manicures, pedicures, body treatments and makeup application.

According to the Lambton College website, students learn skills “in one of the largest training labs in Canada, with state-of-the-art facilities that prepare students for this growing profession.”

Evelyn says a highlight of the experience was the professionalism the students showed residents. From start to finish, the students worked to ensure residents enjoyed a full spa experience.

“The cosmetology students are incredibly kind and genuinely interested in getting to know our residents,” she says. “They treat each of their clients with exceptional care, making everyone feel welcomed, valued and pampered.”

Evelyn adds that the experience was a win for everyone.

“It was a memorable day filled with smiles, conversation and community connection,” she says.
