While the top strength of the Westmount Gardens life enrichment team is staff's commitment to the London, Ont., long-term care community's residents, it's team members' passion for their work and talent for working together so well that drives them each day, says Adnan Resh.
Adnan, Westmount Gardens' life enrichment manager, says the home has “some of the best life enrichment team members” in the business, and their ability to work as a tight-knit group and support each other means residents receive top-notch programs and activities.
“I always mention my life enrichment team members for their hard work and I really do mean every bit of it,” Adnan tells S&R Today.
“They always come in with a smile on their faces, and they are always right in the thick of everything.”
Adnan says one of the most profound ways team members show their dedication to each other is when a new staff member joins the life enrichment department.
“We have had a lot of new staff members come on board, and the best thing about this team is that every time we have someone new come on board they welcome them with open arms and (this helps them) fit into the team right away,” he says.
Adnan says several new team members have joined the life enrichment department in his tenure, “and all of them have felt like they have been here for years, just because of the connections we have built so quickly making it feel like a home.”
“The life enrichment team have all become friends and will do things outside the home together when not working, and this was all from building that friendship here at the home,” he adds.
Most importantly, Adnan says the life enrichment team is “amazing” when it comes to working with residents.
“Residents look for them whenever they need them, and the life enrichment team is always there to help,” he says.
“The interaction I see from my staff and the residents are always positive, and it just makes me feel like we have such great team members.”
