The Heron Terrace team has been helping residents make the most of autumn by organizing trips to local parks.
In recent weeks, residents have visited two of Windsor's scenic parks, Jackson Park and Malden Park, as part of what volunteer co-ordinator Mervat El-Ainain characterizes as “wonderful fall outings.”
Mervat says the Jackson Park trip was “a wonderful experience” for residents, who were surrounded by the autumn colours Ontario is famous for as they walked through the park and stopped at several historical landmarks.
Team members and volunteers shared interesting stories about the park's history, and everyone enjoyed learning more about Windsor's heritage, Mervat adds.
“The beautiful sunny weather made the outing even more special, with residents smiling, taking photos and enjoying the fresh autumn air,” she tells S&R Today.
The following week, residents visited Malden Park for their second outing. Upon arrival, some family members were waiting to join their loved ones for the experience.
Residents took a relaxing walk through the park, admired the scenic views and listened to music that added to the cheerful atmosphere. The group enjoyed snacks and played trivia games, filling the afternoon with laughter and friendly conversation, Mervat says.
Mervat says these outings proved to be a highlight of the season for both residents and team members.
“Both trips were filled with joy, connection and the beauty of the fall season, leaving everyone with warm memories and smiles to share back at Heron Terrace,” she says.
