St. Andrew's Terrace celebrates the season with fall fair fun
Residents, families and staff enjoy animals and treats during the home's autumn event

Every autumn, fall fairs are a cornerstone of Ontario culture that can be found in nearly every town and city across the province, and one S&R Group long-term care community even had its own this year.
St. Andrew's Terrace in Cambridge recently hosted a fall fair to bring the spirit of autumn to residents and team members – and that included all the fun things that come with a fall fair, says Margaret Smith, assistant manager of resident care at the home.
A major highlight of the fair, which was organized by Dana Carlson, the home's life enrichment manager, was a visit from several animals, courtesy of Triple C Farm, a livestock sanctuary and petting zoo based in Ancaster.
The animals the farm brought to St. Andrew's Terrace included rabbits, goats, a mini horse, a donkey, an alpaca and a sheep.
“It was quite bustling in our courtyard,” Dana tells S&R Today. “Residents, staff and visitors enjoyed the animals, along with games and ice-cream sundaes.”
Margaret says one highlight of the fair was the alpaca, named Oats, who came to St. Andrew's Terrace with Triple C. Native to South America, alpacas are similar to llamas, and residents and team members enjoyed having their photos taken with such a unique animal, she says.
Margaret adds that residents loved seeing everyone join in.
“Residents absolutely loved seeing staff from all departments and levels getting involved and sharing in the fun,” she says.
Most importantly, the fall fair proved to be an event filled with laughter and connections, Margaret adds.
“It was wonderful to see residents, family and staff come together to celebrate the fall season,” she says. “It was a wonderful event for residents and teams to come together.”
