S&R partners with Lambton College for successful hiring fair
Event draws strong interest from job seekers

The S&R Group recently partnered with Lambton College's Community Employment Services (CES) to host a hiring fair at the college's newly renovated community centre.
Mahyar Garmsiri, S&R's HR talent acquisition specialist, attended the event with team members from S&R Long-Term Care division. He says the event generated so much interest that additional team members were called in from two Sarnia homes – Afton Park Place and Twin Lakes Terrace.
“Our partners at Community Employment Services were able to connect us with job seekers and scheduled interviews for us,” he tells S&R Today.
“There was so much interest that we had to bring in extra team members from the homes to extend the hiring fair for a couple of hours before and after the original plan so we could fit in more interviews.”
Afton Park Place was represented by Sandra Martin, Deb Cope and Linda Schaefer, while Danielle Rogers and Lauren MacNeil represented Twin Lakes Terrace.
Mahyar says the S&R booth saw lots of interested candidates stop by.
“Our team was working hard to make time for all our interested applicants and talk with them about their career interests,” he says.
Afton Park and Twin Lakes staff interviewed candidates for S&R's Long-Term Care division, while Mahyar conducted interviews on behalf of Seniors Living division.
The event was a pilot program for a new series of events that CES is hoping to provide to the community. The S&R Group is proud to have been selected for this pilot program to support a valued community partner, Mahyar says, adding a thank-you to Sabrina Rocca and Jill Elgie from CES for organizing the event and for their help screening and scheduling applicants.
“This was such a productive day for us,” he says. “We had two to three interviews happening every half hour, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ... We look forward to more events with CES.”
