London career fair connects S&R with PSW students
'It was a great opportunity to help get our name out there and network with the London community, not just job seekers'

Representatives from the S&R Group recently attended a career fair at Trios College's London campus to connect with soon-to-be graduates from its personal support worker (PSW) program and scout for promising new talent.
This was a chance for Mahyar Garmsiri, the S&R Group's HR talent acquisition specialist, to meet students looking for career opportunities and tell them about how S&R supports residents in the organization's long-term care and seniors living communities.
Mahyar says he was impressed by the level of interest the students displayed and by the number of students who stopped by the S&R booth.
“They told me a lot of students had signed up, but I was surprised by how many PSWs attended,” he tells S&R Today.
And many of the students were showing initiative, Mahyar adds.
“What I was really impressed by was that some students stopped by to ask about career advice and how to prepare for interviews,” he says. “I thought that reflected really well on these students and showed that it was forward thinking of them as they are preparing for their placements and graduating.”
Aside from meeting new people and searching for talent, Mahyar says attending the career fair was also a chance to raise the S&R Group's profile in the community.
“It was a great opportunity to help get our name out there and network with the London community, not just job seekers,” he says.
It wasn't just students who were stopping by to chat at the S&R booth, Mahyar notes.
“We had other employers coming to our booth because they were interested in our homes for their loved ones,” he says.
