Contest photo captures Village on the Thames residents at special moment

'It is a great picture and I thought it would be a great story'

At first glance, it's a photo (see above) of Village on the Thames residents seated at tables in the Chatham-Kent seniors living community's dining room as they play bingo.

But there's more to the picture.

At the beginning of each month, the S&R Group tasks its seniors living communities to do something different involving residents as part of an ongoing contest.

The challenge for March has been to snap a photo of “residents most likely to do” ... something, explains Village on the Thames fun co-ordinator Diamond Zelina.

Homes are asked to take pictures of residents and caption what they are most likely to be seen doing next, she adds.

In the case of the above photo, Diamond says the theme is residents “most likely to contact.”

Diamond says the photo captures a group of residents enjoying one of their favourite activities, and that's what makes the photo special.

“These lovely and amazing ladies and gentlemen are our die-hard bingo players who come every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon to play and win candy treats,” Diamond tells S&R Today.

“I thought it would be a great picture as a group, and they all thought it would be great as well. There is always a large group that loves to play bingo.”

So, with that, Diamond took their photo because she and the residents want to share it with everyone.

“It's a great picture and I thought it would be a great story,” Diamond says.
