A group of residents from the Village on the Thames learned that trying their hand at pebble art was a great way to engage their creativity and discover their artistic talents.

Pebble art is a craft where small, smooth pebbles or stones are used to create images or sculptures mounted on a surface. Once the stones are collected, they are are glued to a surface, such as construction paper, and arranged to form a design or pattern.

Along with Diamond Zelina, the Chatham-Kent seniors living community's fun co-ordinator, residents Irene, Mildred, Doris, Rita and Hilda spent an afternoon creating pebble art. The pebbles used had been purchased at a local crafts store.

“They could make any type of picture they wanted,” Diamond tells S&R Today.

The residents used the stones as well as some sticks to create the designs they created. Some of the designs the residents made included trees and flowers.

Diamond says making pebble art was the perfect way for residents to harness their artistic talents and create artwork they can be proud of.

“It was a creative craft, and they had a lot of fun,” she says.
