Village on the Thames resident Ivor Misselbrook is seen here playing guitar and singing for residents.

Ivor Misselbrook had only been living at the Village on the Thames for a few days when he found himself as the headline entertainer for live music programming.

A life-long musician who has played in many bands over the years, Ivor moved into the Chatham-Kent seniors living community with seven guitars and was eager to play guitar and sing for residents and team members, says Village on the Thames fun co-ordinator Diamond Zelina.

“After barely being here a week, he wanted to play for the rest of the residents, so we set up (a stage) and we had an amazing turnout and everyone loved him playing and singing,” she tells S&R Today.

Ivor played a variety of different songs, and his maiden performance at the Village on the Thames was such a hit with residents he has been performing every Sunday as part of the day's regular programming.

His music is becoming such a big part of entertainment programming at the Village that the band Ivor currently plays with has been joining him on stage some days, Diamond notes.

Diamond says Ivor enjoys singing and playing guitar for the residents as much as they love his music.

“He is very humble and really enjoys playing for others,” she says.

Plans are even in the works for resident outings to watch Ivor and his group perform at venues outside the Village on the Thames, Diamond says.

“We will be organizing outings to see him play with his group in Blenheim as well,” she says
