A group of residents from the Village on the Thames recently took a bus trip to a blueberry farm – and it proved to be the perfect way to spend a pleasant autumn day, says Diamond Zelina, the Village's fun co-ordinator.

Nestled on a farm between Bothwell and Thamesville in southwestern Ontario, Parks Blueberries is the go-to spot in the region for anything and everything “blueberry.” The farm sells blueberries and also has a cafe and gift shop.

Residents of the Chatham-Kent seniors living community took advantage of the opportunity and spent an afternoon at the farm – and, of course, brought some tasty blueberries home with them.

Diamond says the residents and team members who were on the bus that day could not have asked for a better time to be at the farm.

“They had a great time and the weather was beautiful,” she tells S&R Today.

To commemorate the excursion, residents had their photo taken (see above image) and they “took a really nice picture together,” Diamond says.

No matter the occasion, Diamond says the residents who went to Parks Blueberries form a core group that “truly looks forward to all the trips” the Village on the Thames offers – whether they are shopping or sightseeing.

“We have bus trips every week and this amazing group goes all the time,” she says.
