Landmark Village recently hosted a country-and-western-themed day, which proved to be the perfect venue for rallying the Sarnia seniors living community's residents together for the latest “fun day.”
Residents and team members were encouraged to dress in country-and-western-themed outfits, such as plaid shirts and cowboy hats, and enjoy the day-long program.
Since there were several extra cowboy hats and a Western-style “wanted” poster photo prop, residents got to have their photos taken as a memento.
During the day, residents and team members played a variety of games, including horseshoes, shooting games and horse-roping.
Residents sat in a U-shaped formation around the games so everyone could watch and cheer each other on.
Team members served snacks, including caramel corn, and residents took turns trying their hand at the games.
“Using things we already had and making a few things for the games, the afternoon came together and the residents were all smiles,” Landmark Village fun co-ordinator Brent Hart tells S&R Today.
In the evening there was entertainment from Rick and Deb Miller of husband-and-wife musical duo Leavin' Tracks, which was a big hit with residents.
“The pair always puts on a great show,” Brent says, adding a highlight was when Rick brought out his banjo and strummed a tune.
“It was a great day with plenty of smiles.”
The Landmark Village team organizes “fun days” centred on a theme for residents and staff to enjoy each month.
