Landmark Village's annual Carnival Day returned to the Sarnia seniors living community Aug. 28, once again bringing lots of fun and laughter to residents and team members.

Carnival Day is also one of the “fun days” Landmark Village hosts for residents and team members each month.

For this year's event, fun co-ordinator Brent Hart encouraged team members to dress like clowns to add to the spirit of the day, which included lots of games, animal balloon making and other activities.

And, of course, every carnival has to have musical entertainment and lots of treats, and this carnival was no exception, Brent says, noting there was plenty of candy floss and popcorn for everyone to enjoy.

Local musician Mark Blayney provided the afternoon's entertainment.

Brent says his favourite part of the event was seeing how much fun the residents were having.

“The highlight for myself was seeing residents' reaction to staff dressed up,” he tells S&R Today. “All the smiles and laughter are what make it special.”

He adds that staff participation plays a large role in making every Carnival Day – and every fun day – such a big hit with residents.

“All the fun days we do wouldn't be as successful if it wasn't for the staff who dress up for the occasion,” he says.

Brent says Landmark Village's next fun day will have a country and western theme.
