Twin Lakes Village residents recently took a trip to the Aloha State without leaving the comfort of the Sarnia seniors living community.
On July 17, Twin Lakes Village hosted its annual Hawaiian luau social, a gathering that has become one of the Village's flagship summer events.
Throughout the day residents and team members were encouraged to wear their favourite tropical gear, such as floral shirts, grass skirts and shorts, and join the party, which included live entertainment from local musician Lise Michaud.
In keeping with the Hawaiian theme, team members handed out leis, the traditional floral necklace, for everyone to wear, notes Twin Lakes Village fun co-ordinator Gina McNally.
And, of course, no Hawaiian-themed celebration would be complete without an array of tropical refreshments. For this year's luau team members prepared Jell-O beach cups that were filled with fresh fruit and tropical punch.
Gina notes that team members got creative with the refreshments.
“The Jell-O was made to look like a teddy bear floating in the water or sitting on the beach,” she tells S&R Today.
The Hawaiian luau social is held every year at Twin Lakes Village and has become a favourite summertime event for residents.
