Lanark Village residents are once again enjoying their favourite breakfast treats during a twice-per-month program the Kitchener, Ont. senior living community has relaunched.
The Breakfast Club has been running since the first week of May. The program was launched several years ago but was suspended when the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. The purpose of the Breakfast Club is to give residents an extra-special breakfast every other week.
Residents must make reservations for Breakfast Club events, and the breakfasts are also geared towards welcoming new residents to Lanark Village, explains executive director Bradley Lukas.
“What better way to make friends than eating a delicious breakfast prepared right in front of you?” Bradley says.
During the first Breakfast Club event, fun co-ordinator Lisa Irwin made residents fresh waffles which were “thoroughly enjoyed” by all, she says.
“The residents definitely loved the breakfast, and it was the talk of the home for the day,” Lisa says. “It's going to be a popular activity on our calendar.”
Before each Breakfast Club, new residents receive an invitation to join the club for breakfast to give them a chance to get to know other residents and team members.
“Nothing starts a conversation better than a cup of coffee at the breakfast table,” Lisa says.
