The Steeves & Rozema Group is looking for people volunteering in the organization's long-term care and seniors living communities who show passion for their work helping others.

If you have a volunteer in mind who shows outstanding commitment to the residents they serve, S&R is asking that you nominate them for a Quest for Success award in the Volunteer Recognition category.

For the first time since 2019, Steeves & Rozema will be hosting its annual Award Celebration in Sarnia in April to recognize outstanding team members in four Quest for Success categories – Volunteer Recognition, Community Service, Above and Beyond, and Quality Improvement – as well as to honour long-standing team members.

For the first time in the event's history, there will be first-, second- and third-place awards presented to team members in each Quest for Success category. The awards will be presented along with cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100.

The Volunteer Recognition Award is given out annually to people who volunteer in a Steeves & Rozema community who work hard to provide a better place for residents to live and a better environment for team members to work.

The 2019 Volunteer Recognition Award was presented to Sarah McKellar and Val Judas, a volunteering duo at Southgate Village in Kingsville.

Sarah and Val were recognized for the many activities they host while volunteering at the Kingsville, Ont. seniors living community.

“It doesn't matter what (activity) I ask them to run, whether a movie, games or socials, they do it with smiles and laughter,” said Southgate fun co-ordinator Susan Davis, in her nomination.

“As soon as they walk through the door, Sarah greets everyone with a big 'Hi' and 'How are you?' The residents love them dearly.”

Held annually in Sarnia, the Awards Celebration honours outstanding S&R team members and volunteers throughout the organization based on four areas: Above and Beyond, Community Service, Quality Improvement and Volunteer Recognition. There are also service awards handed out every year for long-time team members.

The deadline for nominations is March 15 (today). Nomination forms are available from managers at Steeves & Rozema long-term care and seniors living communities.
