From completing resident COVID-19 vaccinations to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and a whole lot more in between, March was a busy month at Twin Lakes Village.

The biggest news from the Sarnia seniors living community is that residents received their second and final dose of the vaccine to help protect them from the COVID-19 virus, and team members have now received their first inoculation.

To mark the occasion, residents and team members posed with signs a member of the nursing team created that read, “We have been vaccinated with hope”.

St. Patrick’s Day is always a favourite celebration at seniors living communities and Twin Lakes Village is no exception. On March 17, residents enjoyed a safe happy hour with lots of treats, including themed cupcakes and green wine, in the dining room.

To help bring smiles to residents’ faces, a local gift shop, Just Baskits & Balloon Decor, dropped off Balloon Buddies for everyone to enjoy.

A Balloon Buddy is a cluster of balloons shaped like people and embossed with smiley faces.

March marked the one-year anniversary of the World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 pandemic. While the past 12 months have been challenging for Twin Lakes Village residents and team members due to the safety restrictions in place, there is now a feeling of seeing the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, says activities co-ordinator Kaylene Hagen.

“Things are tough but they are starting to look up,” she says.
