“Creating communities that are good for life” is Steeves & Rozema’s mission, and the organization is looking for your help recognizing team members – individually or as a group – who have shown commitment to their communities and helping others.

If this describes a person or people you work with in a Steeves & Rozema long-term care or seniors living community, the organization is encouraging you to nominate them for a Quest for Success Community Service Award.

The award will be presented at Steeves & Rozema’s annual Awards Celebration in Sarnia on April 16.

In 2019, Village on the Thames fun co-ordinator Tina Drew received the Community Service Award for involving the seniors living community in the United Way of Chatham-Kent’s Operation BackPacks campaign the previous August and September.

This was the first time the Village on the Thames had participated in the initiative. Residents and team members filled 26 backpacks with school supplies destined for local children from families in need before the school year started.

In 2018, Heron Terrace personal support worker Kim Deslippe and housekeeping department staff member Lisa Harris received the Community Service Award for their work as a two-person fundraising team at the Windsor long-term care community.

Kim and Lisa organized fundraisers for staff members who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. They held a fundraiser for Lisa’s grandson who had a brain tumour. Kim and Lisa also participate in the Windsor Brain Tumour Walk every year.

Held annually in Sarnia, the Awards Celebration honours outstanding S&R team members and volunteers throughout the organization based on four areas: Above and Beyond, Community Service, Quality Improvement and Volunteer Recognition. There are also service awards handed out every year for long-time team members.

The deadline for nominations is March 15. Nomination forms are available from managers at Steeves & Rozema long-term care and seniors living communities.
