Lanark Village apple-pie fundraiser nets more than $1,600 to support worthy causes

Lanark Village recently hosted its fourth annual apple-pie sale fundraiser, bringing in more than $1,600 that was split between the local food bank and Steeves & Rozema’s Our Kids initiative, which helps supports children in developing countries.
This year, team members at the Kitchener senior living community made a whopping 170 apple pies from scratch that were sold to support the fundraiser.
Executive director Bradley Lukas says word has gotten out about the top-notch apple pies team members bake at Lanark Village, which he attributes to the fundraiser’s success.
“The pie orders started rolling in early and fast this year, I assume because people have gotten to know how tasty our pies are,” Bradley tells S&R Today.
“This year, our team once again pulled together to make these pies entirely from scratch using local apples.”
Bradley also tips his hat to the effort culinary manager Sharon Chase put into the fundraiser.
“Sharon really takes these types of initiatives seriously, and this was clear to us once again as she sold over 100 of the pies herself,” he says.
Bradley extends his gratitude to all the team members who helped make the event a success, as well as to everyone who bought a pie to help Lanark Village support the charitable causes.
Bradley adds that the apple-pie fundraiser fits in with the S&R mission.
“This is once again another amazing example of how Lanark supports the Steeves & Rozema commitment to ‘creating communities that are good for life,’ ” he says.
