The Steeves & Rozema Group’s annual golf tournament on June 1 proved to be a great day of fun, but the big success was the $1,675 the tournament’s 50-50 raffle and silent auction raised in support of the family of a Windsor toddler who has received a heart transplant.
S&R Today has featured several stories during the past year about Logan, now 2, who received his transplant in 2018. The situation was understandably challenging for Logan’s family, who had to make many trips to Toronto where Logan received treatment.
To help make things easier for Logan’s family, the Heron Heroes, a group of Heron Terrace team members that hosts fundraising initiatives, launched a series of yearlong campaigns in June 2018 to raise money for Logan and his family.
Steeves & Rozema usually donates proceeds from its golf tournament 50-50 draw and silent auction to the Alzheimer Society, a charity that’s important to the organization.
But after reading all the stories about Logan and the Heron Heroes, the S&R head office team decided to donate this year’s proceeds to Logan and his family, says Shauntelle Sandrin, Steeves & Rozema’s director of relationships and marketing.
“I am so happy to announce that we raised $1,675 for Logan and his family,” Shauntelle says.
Shauntelle says the 50-50 draw raised $465 and the silent auction brought in $1,210.
Steeves & Rozema hosted this year’s tournament at Huron Oaks Golf Club in Brights Grove for the first time. There were 124 golfers participating, a record number for the tournament.
