Westmount Gardens is inviting residents, their families and team members to attend a party this Friday (May 17) to mark the launch of the London, Ont. long-term care community’s Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) initiative.
Westmount Gardens entered an agreement April 10 to launch the BPSO initiative, which is aimed at enhancing the quality of patient care.
Every three years, the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) issues requests for proposals to health-care organizations for the implementation and evaluation of the RNAO’s best practice guidelines with the goal of improving care.
Team members presented Westmount Gardens’ goals for its BPSO initiative at the recent RNAO BPSO symposium.
With the launch of the BPSO initiative, Westmount Gardens has three years to implement the best practice guidelines it is focusing on.
The four best practice guidelines the Westmount Gardens team is focusing on are:
- Person- and family-centred care
- Falls prevention and reducing injuries from falls
- Pain assessment and management
- End-of-life care during the last days and hours
“We are hoping to improve overall resident care through the implementation of those evidence-based best practice guidelines, and we are focusing on (these) four areas,” Westmount Gardens nurse practitioner Sarah Bajura-MacLaren tells S&R Today.
The launch party will be at 1 p.m. on May 17 in Westmount Gardens front foyer.
