Southgate Village executive director Becky Broughton is commending team member Nathalie Malott for getting 106-year-old resident Theresa Schwager into the Halloween spirit.

Theresa and Nathalie have a close friendship. When Theresa saw that Nathalie came to work Oct. 31 dressed in a scarecrow costume for a party at the Kingsville seniors living community that evening, the resident was surprised.

At first, Theresa didn’t recognize Nathalie, but she was intrigued.

Nathalie asked Theresa if she wanted to dress up in a costume. At first, the resident was a bit hesitant about the idea, but soon changed her mind. When Nathalie’s shift ended at 2:30 p.m., she went and helped Theresa decide on a costume design.

They selected a design with an autumn theme: a wide-brimmed hat adorned with orange and yellow leaves coupled with a waist band with orange and yellow leaves.

The resident “loved it.”

“So, Theresa got dressed up and she went to the party,” Becky tells S&R Today. “She posed for pictures and she was smiling.”

Becky says this is an example of the great value team members bring to Southgate Village residents every day.

“Theresa absolutely loves Nathalie, and they have a really cute little bond,” Becky says.
