The Steeves & Rozema Group has announced six recipients of the organization’s scholarship program for the 2018-19 academic year. The students have each received $500 to put towards their post-secondary education.

The scholarships are awarded annually to children and grandchildren of Steeves & Rozema team members.

This year’s recipients are:

- Vanessa Wardell, daughter of Julie Wardell of Twin Lakes Terrace. Vanessa is studying psychology and French education at Brescia University College. Vanessa also received a scholarship in 2017.

- Sonja Gavric, daughter of Aleksandra Gavric of Lanark Heights. Sonja, who also received a scholarship in 2017, is studying nursing at McMaster University.

- Crystal Tufford, daughter of Debbie Tufford of St. Andrew’s Terrace. Crystal is enrolled in the social service worker program at Fleming College.

- Melynda Visouvath, daughter of Angela Dayman of Westmount Gardens. Melynda is pursuing a bachelor of nursing degree in the collaborative program offered through Western University and Fanshawe College.

- Alexa Soulliere, daughter of Tracy Johnson of Trillium Villa Nursing Home. Alexa is studying microbiology at the University of Guelph.

- Madison Jones, daughter of Jeany Jones of Westmount Gardens. Madison is enrolled in the pre-health sciences program at St. Clair College.

The Steeves & Rozema Group scholarship program was launched in 2011. More than 40 scholarships have been awarded since. The program also aligns with Steeves & Rozema’s mission of “creating communities that are good for life.”

The scholarships are awarded to people age 25 and under who are studying at an accredited post-secondary institution. Those seeking to apply must have proof of enrolment to an accredited post-secondary institution or program. Applicants can be in any year of their study as long as they fall under the age requirements.

Scholarship winners are also invited to the Annual Awards Celebration at Steeves & Rozema’s head office, held in April each year.

Qualifying applicants may submit their applications annually and are eligible to receive the award twice during their schooling.

Scholarship applications for the 2019-20 school year will be accepted starting in June 2019.
