Entertainer Crystal St. Denis brought out the singing talents of a Village on the Thames resident during a recent performance at the Chatham-Kent seniors living community.
Village on the Thames fun co-ordinator Tina Drew says Crystal noticed that Ken McFadden had a strong baritone voice, and it turns out he had done some singing with a choir at one point.
Crystal encouraged Ken to sing along with her to a song, and he did a great job, Tina says.
“She had him sing with her, and they were great,” Tina tells S&R Today, adding it’s important to have entertainers who engage the residents like this. “Crystal is just an amazing entertainer, and we love having her in.”
And Ken did an excellent job of singing along with Crystal, Tina says.
“He has a very deep voice, so she did a song that he could use his deep voice for,” Tina says.
Windsor-based Crystal and her husband, Ryan, have been fan-favourite entertainers at Village on the Thames for many years. They have performed separately and as a duo for residents.
One funny note about the day’s performance came after Crystal sang How Much is that Doggie in the Window after spotting a dog in the audience.
“All the residents got a kick out of that, and now one of the residents asks everybody to sing that song,” Tina says.
